Undertale creator composed music for Pokémon Sword & Shield

Toby Fox, creator of Undertale, has composed a music track for the soundtrack of Pokémon Sword & Shield (via games radar).

2019 is the year of the Fox, especially for Nintendo. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mii Fighters are able to don a costume of Sans from Undertale, and it added Megalovania to the collection of music tracks. Fox composed the soundtrack to the unique RPG Little Town Hero, made by Game Freak. It’s clear the developer liked what it heard, and asked Fox to collaborate for the much-anticipated Pokémon Sword & Shield.

It won’t be a ‘main track’, but he described the undertaking as a ‘huge honor’. He shared a drawing of Gen 8 Pokémon Yamper with the signature Undertale smile as he announced the news on Twitter. Pokémon Sword & Shield’s release date is right around the corner, and although the starter evolutions are still a mystery, there is so much to look forward to.

Pokémon Sword has the chivalrous SirFetch’d while Pokémon Shield has the ethereal Galarian Ponyta as exclusives to each version. A Special Trade will pair up players while they explore the Wild Zone of Galar, and the trainers will receive a surprise Pokémon in the style of a lucky dip. There will be curry-cooking at the Pokémon Camp, where players will chill out with their team and visit others’ pit stops. Finally, those who have Let’s Go saves will get unique Gigantamax Pikachu and Eevee forms.

One last thing: the anniversary of Deltarune just passed us by. Congrats, Toby!
