Pokemon GO
Credit: NianticItâs been a good long while since weâve had a full wave of new Pokémon in Pokémon GO, but itâs a new year, and that means itâs time to catch new Pokémon. Niantic just dropped a whole bunch of new Gen 5 Unova creatures into the game, along with some interesting new mechanics. Trade evolution is now a thing, long a part of the mainline series but not implemented into GO until now. That means that in certain cases, trading a Pokémon will negate its candy cost for evolution.
There are a couple of new creatures that take advantage of the new trade evolution mechanic. In the case of three-tier evolution, itâs the second to third tier evolution that takes advantage of trading. Those are:
In addition, there are a bunch of other creatures currently appearing in the game. And here they are, with credit to the Pokemon GO blog:
Pokémon appearing in the wild: Roggenrola, Tympole, Dwebble, Trubbish, Karrablast, Joltik, Shelmet, and more.
Pokémon hatching from Eggs:
Pokémon appearing in raids: Timburr will also be available in one-star raids.
Pokémon appearing in the wild in certain parts of the world:
Iâm particularly interested in some of those regionals. Some of them are a new mechanic: available widely in certain areas, but available everywhere from 10km eggs. Eggs are one of Nianticâs best monetization angles, so this isnât a shocking approach. Sigilyph, however, has one of the most narrow spawning ranges this side of Relicanth, and is sure to become one of the most sought after creatures in the game, especially outside of the Mediterranean.
Time to get out and hunt. There is no time in this game quite like when you can see a silhouette and go for it, so savor it.
