Pokémon Go adds Cubchoo, Cryogonal, and beanie Pikachu in upcoming winter event

Pokémon Go will add new Pokémon, Raids, egg hatches, cosmetic items, research tasks, and Shadow Pokémon to the game in a future winter-themed event (via Eurogamer).

From December 24, 2019 to January 1, 2020, Niantic will deliver oodles of wintery goods to Pokémon Go. There’s a lot to cover so make sure you’re sitting comfortably, perhaps with a warm drink and with your feet by the fire. Firstly, there will be holiday-themed clothes and accessories for Trainers to wear, like a Stantler sweatshirt and a red and white beanie. These beanies match the ones that Pichu, Pikachu, and Raichu will be costumed in, and players will be able to find these festive critters in eggs, field research tasks, and Raids respectively. And, Stantler wearing jingle bells will be found in eggs and Raids, and there’s a chance it could be Shiny too.

Ice Pokémon such as Sneasel, Snorunt, and Snover will pop up a lot more frequently in the wild. Snover has a chance to be Shiny and Delibird is back in town as a timed exclusive catch. In addition, Generation 5 Cubchoo and Cryogonal will be introduced. Cubchoo will be wandering the overworld but Cryogonal will only be found at Poké Stops with Glacial Lures. Team Rocket will employ new Shadow Pokémon including Shadow Delibird. Is Shadow Delibird essentially Pokémon Krampus? Let me know what you think.

That’s not all, though. Trainers will receive a free egg incubator every single day when spinning a Poké Stop, and players will be able to open and give away twice as many Gifts to their friends. That’s a limit of 40 Gifts to open and 20 Gifts to carry in their inventory. ‘Tis the season. Also, between December 24 and December 25, catch and transfer candy will be doubled. Between December 26 and December 27, stardust catch values will be doubled. Between December 28 and December 29, catch experience points will be doubled. Finally, between December 30 and January 1, egg incubation distances will be halved.

Almost there! On December 28, a winter weekend event will offer Regice in Raids and two extra Raid Passes from spinning Gyms: these will only apply to the winter weekend event. It kicks off at 11.00am and ends at 7.00pm in the local time zone, so there’s plenty of time to catch the Iceberg Pokémon, and Glacial Lures will last for two hours during the event. If players evolve Eevee using a Glacial Lure during the event, they will get a Glaceon that knows the Charged Attack "Last Resort".

Fin. Pokémon Go is out now on iOS and Android devices.
