'Pokémon' Anime Poster Showing Ash, Pikachu & New Character May Have Leaked

The Pokémon Sun and Moon anime is about to end in Japan, which will then lead into the next sub-series in the long-running show.

On Friday, a supposed poster for the next series in the Pokémon anime was posted on various Japanese message boards. The poster shows Ash, Pikachu, a new trainer and Scorbunny, the Fire-type starter of the upcoming Sword and Shield games.

It should be noted that this poster did not come from official sources so it is not confirmed, but the contents of it seem legit enough for trusted Pokémon site, Serebii to tweet about it.

Check out the alleged Pokémon Sword and Shield anime poster below.

There are quite a few points to note from this supposed trailer. The first is that Ash and Pikachu are involved, which seemingly debunks rumors that the duo would not be in this series after winning the Alola League.

Another point is the background, which showcases all seven generations of the Pokémon franchise up to this point. There were rumors that the next series of the Pokémon anime would explore past regions, and if true, this poster seemingly confirms it.

Then we have the new character alongside Ash. This young boy is likely from the Galar region if his starter Pokémon is Scorbunny, one of the three chosen to be a trainer's partner at the beginning of their journey. Whenever Ash comes to a new region, he catches at least one of the starter Pokémon, so this poster means he either has Scorbunny or one of the other two starters, Grookey or Sobble.

Confirmation and more information on the new series of the Pokémon anime is coming this Sunday, September 29 in Japan, so it won't be long before fans learn where Ash and Pikachu's journey will take them next.

In Japan, the Sun and Moon anime is reaching its conclusion, with Ash recently winning the Alola League and preparing to face Professor Kakui. The dub of the anime is about 20 episodes behind, so the English conclusion won't air until the beginning of 2020.

The Sword and Shield games are set to release in November with a region full of new Pokémon, Galarian forms of older generation Pokémon and new battle mechanics.

Pokémon Sword and Shield release November 15 on Nintendo Switch.

What do you think of the supposed poster? Which Pokémon do you hope Ash catches in this series? Let us know in the comments section.

  • Pokémon is entering the wild world of animal camming with a new "live stream." Beginning at 6AM PT / 9AM ET on October 4th, The Pokémon Company will broadcast "live footage for 24 hours from a camera set up in Glimwood Tangle—a strange forest located deep within the Galar region."

Sure, it's no bearcam, but it's fair to expect a few early looks at brand-new pokémon. Pokémon Sword and Shield's release date is creeping ever closer: both games are set to launch November 15th on the Nintendo Switch.

Will any of them top the surprise announcement of Sirfetch'd? Or those unfortunately designed cream pokémon? Hard to say, but dare to dream.

‘Pokemon Go’ Adds 2 New Moves; Battle System Redo Happening Again

"Pokemon Go" was officially released on July 2016 and three years after it was named as the top-selling mobile game for August. The popularity of the augmented reality game is expected to dwindle given its age, but with its August sales, it appears that Niantic is doing the right thing to make the game interesting and relevant. And, because the game developer knows how to listen to its players and take their feedback seriously, Niantic is planning to change the battle system of the game once again.

Niantic Labs and "Pokemon Go" community managers are collecting players' feedback and try as much as possible to meet them. Because of this, "Pokemon Go" has interesting activities and regularly occurring update rollouts. The next batch of "Pokemon Go" improvements are aimed to revise the combat or battle system of the game.

Unlike other "Pokemon" franchise games, the combat system of "Pokemon Go" is lagging behind although it has gradually improved over the years. The next round of changes is expected to make the game's battle system even better. It might allow players to deal more damage to the new Unova pocket monster in the game.

Pokémon GoPokémon Go will allow players to trade with friends later this week. Photo: Niantic

Although it will improve the battle system of "Pokemon Go," the upcoming update will be more of a clean-up than full redo. It will focus on some of the combat system mechanics that are usually out of whack. The bigger improvement will be on energy charging and the timing for the damage dealt.

If this happens, "Pokemon Go" will experience great improvements and will aid them in making the Raids a little bit less frustrating. Additionally, the health bars in "Pokemon Go" will shortly pulse every time damage is received. This will make it clearer for the players to see if the attacks they launch are connecting.

Aside from the mechanical changes anticipated to roll out in "Pokemon Go," there are also a couple of new exciting moves added to the augmented reality game. These are Ice Fang, and Thunder Fang moves. The thunder fang is an electric-type fast attack and can be used with Steelix, Hippowdon, Arcanine, and Mightyena.

The ice fang, on the other hand, is an ice-type fast attack that can be used with Drapion, Hippowdon, Suicune, and Mightyena. "Pokemon Go" is available on iOS and Android devices.

Fathom Events Reportedly Unaware of Plans to Bring New Pokemon Movie to the U.S.

Pokemon has just given Ash Ketchum a break. After his long history of trying and failing to win championships for Pokemon tournaments, the eternally young pocket monster trainer managed to take home the gold recently with the Alola League Tournament in the anime series, Pokemon: Sun and Moon. With this iteration of Ketchum and his posse coming to an end, and a new series dropping this fall, which may or may not be a reboot, some may forget about the CGI film that came out earlier this year in Japan. Unfortunately, for fans looking forward to the latter, it seems as though it might not be coming to theaters according to Fathom Events.

Twitter User FelipoDepot asked Fathom Events directly to see if they would be sponsoring a screening for the Pokemon feature, Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, and the company responded by stating that they currently had no plans to screen said film in North America:

The computer graphic generated film retells the story from the first Pokemon film, painting the original events from the origin story of Mewtwo in a brand new light. Mewtwo, of course, was cloned from an ancient Pokemon named Mew who had some serious chops when it came to harboring powerful psychic attacks and skills. Mewtwo attempted to use his powers, after being created by a group of scientists led by the villainous Giovanni from Team Rocket, to create a better world for other cloned Pokemon that were created in the original experiment.

While the movie itself has opened in Japan, perhaps North America was fine with one Pokemon film dropping this year in the form of Detective Pikachu, which to date, is the highest grossing video game adaptation to date. This isn't to say that a release isn't possible, just that Fathom Events may not be the ones to do it.

What do you think of the possibility that Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution might not be hitting North American theaters? Feel free to let us know in the comments or hit me up directly on Twitter @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and Pokemon!

Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution officially released on July 12th in Japan. The film is directed by Kunihiko Yuyama and Motonari Sakakibara, with a screenplay written by Takeshi Shudo. There was a hint that the film would be a complete CG remake of the original Mewtwo Strikes Back film, but that was not confirmed until the first audiences saw it for themselves during its world premiere at Anime Expo 2019 earlier this month.

Shiny Pokémon Go World Tourism Day guide: A distance of 10000km

Research Rewards and Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO for this World Tourism Day event are on point. Today we're rolling in lucky – aiming for some of the strangest-looking alternate versions of Zangoose and Seviper – along with the very first appearance of the most un-evolved version of Mr. Mime in the Pokemon called Mime Jr! Three Tasks are at hand, and a set of tasty rewards are waiting for your approval.

Task 1: is called "World Tourism Day: Trade Pokémon caught 10,000 KM apart." How far is 10000km? That's approximately 6213 miles. These units of measurement are only helpful if you've got something with which you're able to compare. Lucky you, we've done just a little bit of work here to give you some idea of how far you'll need to travel – or get a start on sparking your imagination for how you'll go about making this trade happen.

The distance from Chicago to the UK – over the North Atlantic Ocean – is 6,242km. That's according to current Google Maps data. If you're traveling on the highway from Maine (USA) to Los Angeles, you'll have a distance of 5,016km. You might, at this point, be getting the picture.

You're basically going to need to trade Pokemon with someone who lives halfway around world. Given the amount of time you've got to complete this task, chances are MOST people won't actually be able to complete it. Unless they live near an airport, and they're very good at making new friends, most Pokemon GO trainers won't likely see the reward for this task: A Zangoose encounter (North America, South America, and Africa) OR a Seviper encounter (Europe, Asia, and Australia).

Task 2: is called "World Tourism Day: Make a new friend!" For this you'll need only to head into your Friends Code page in the Pokemon GO app. This is probably the simplest task, since making a new friend can be as simple as entering a code one found online. The reward you'll get for this task is a Nosepass encounter.

The above code is an example – adding it in the game won't do you a whole lot of good, since it's from an account of a player that literally hasn't played for months and doesn't plan on playing for the foreseeable future. So don't expect any gifts! Username is hashtag-appropriate, if you know what I mean.

Task 3: is called "World Tourism Day: Send 25 gifts to friends!" This is also relatively simple, as you'll have a bunch of gifts you've gotten from spinning Pokestops already – now all you gotta do is hand em out to friends. The reward for this task is a Lapras encounter.

ALSO NOTE: During this task period – until October 4, 2019 – trade costs were cut down to 25% their normal size, to enable far more trades than you'd normally be able to afford! At the same time, PokeStops are rewarding users with twice the XP they'd normally blast – so spin em a whole bunch!

Pokemon Sword and Shield Teases New Pokemon Announcement With 24 Hour Livestream Next Week

The Pokemon Company is teasing their next Pokemon Sword and Shield reveal with a new 24-hour live stream that starts next week. Earlier this morning, the Pokemon Company announced that they would broadcast live footage for 24 hours from a camera set up in the Glimwood Tangle - a strange forest located deep within the Galar region. The live stream is billed as a chance to get to know the various Pokemon of the area, and we'll likely see several new Pokemon during the stream as fans will see "things that surprise them."

The new 24-hour livestream is the latest innovative way that the Pokemon Company is promoting their upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield games. Earlier this month, the Pokemon Company revealed Sirfetch'd, an evolved form of Farfetch'd, through a "glitch" on their website, which blurred and obscured the Pokemon. This led to a ton of fanart and speculation before the Pokemon's official release last week. While Pokemon Sword and Shield has generated some controversy due to the decision not to include every Pokemon in the game, these innovative marketing techniques are really generating some excitement among fans.

We don't have much other new information about the new Pokemon stream, but 24 hours could mean a TON of reveals. Hopefully, we'll get some helpful updates about any new Pokemon that will debut during the stream, including their names, types, and special abilities.

Trainers can watch Pokémon Live Camera at Pokemon.com/SwordShield, YouTube.com/Pokemon, and Twitch.tv/Pokemon from Friday, October 4, at 6 a.m. PDT to Saturday, October 5, at 6 a.m. PDT.

‘Mario Kart Tour’ Breaks ‘Pokémon GO’ Record With 20 Million Day One Downloads

    Sensor Tower

    Sensor Tower

It may not have multiplayer, it may be loaded with microtransactions, but people really, really like Mario Kart. Nintendo’s newest mobile offering, Mario Kart Tour, has broken the one-day download record for not just its own mobile games, but all mobile games.

The previous record was held by none other than Pokémon GO, which had 6.7 million downloads on day one. Mario Kart Tour racked up 10.1 million downloads, breaking that record and dwarfing other games like Clash Royale and Fortnite, according to data from Apptopia. (Update: Sensor Tower actually clocks Mario Kart Tour with 20 million downloads in 24 hours)

As for Nintendo’s own offering (ie. not those made by Niantic and The Pokémon Company), Mario Kart Tour has effectively doubled the day one installs for Super Mario Run, and everything else is barely a blip by comparison. Mario Kart Tour has hit #1 in overall rank in 93 countries at the time of this writing.

Revenue is a different story, however. Sensor Tower reports that while Mario Kart Tour is making way, way more money on day one than the recent release of Dr. Mario World did, that it’s still behind the day one revenue numbers of Fire Emblem Heroes, at least in terms of ranking. FE was #17 for iPhone revenue in the US on day one while it was #5 in Japan. Mario Kart Tour is currently #19 in the US and #25 in Japan for day one.

    Mario Kart Tour

    Nintendo

Mario Kart is routinely one of the best-sellers on any Nintendo console it’s released for, so it should be no surprise that it has put up big numbers for a mobile release, though this big? That is a little surprising.

Whether Mario Kart Tour has staying power is another story. The game is monetized in a far different fashion than traditional Mario Kart games, with a Fire Emblem-like gacha model for better racers (purchased with gems), and an odd $5 a month subscription model where an entire tier of racing (200cc) is gated behind it. But Nintendo seems very much done with trying to make up-front pricing work like with Super Mario Run’s experiment with a free demo then a big charge for the full game. They’re going down a far more traditional road with a free game injected with microtransactions, though gameplay itself is on point, at least once you get used to the mobile controls.

This is already a hit for Nintendo, we’ll just have to see how big of a hit as time goes on.

Pokemon GO Shiny regional eggs and Mime Jr at last!

Today we're taking a peek at a pair of new Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO as well as the first release of Mime Jr., finally! The original version of Mr. Mime was a regional Pokemon, meaning it only appeared in certain parts of our physical world. Because of this, releasing a Mime Jr. wouldn't work in Pokemon Eggs the way Pokemon Eggs were handled – not unless those eggs were also region-specific. That's all about to change!

    Pokemon GO Babies

Mime Jr. is the earlier evolutionary type of Mr. Mime. This is a sort-of unique situation, where the first of several evolutionary types of a Pokemon is not the "primary" face of said Pokemon. Another example is Pikachu – you can also get a "Pichu", but the original version of Pokemon (with 151 monsters) did not have such a creature.

Mime Jr. will come to Pokemon GO starting on September 26, 2019. Niantic's modified the way Pokemon eggs work in Pokemon GO so that they, too, will be region-specific. Starting on the 26th of September (the day this article was originally published), the egg switch began!

    Regional Eggs for Baby Pokemon

If you'd hoped that the release of Mime Jr. would make finding a Mr. Mime possible outside of Europe – your hopes are about to get DASHED! Mr. Mime and Mime Jr. will still only spawn inside the Europe Region. Mr. Mime will spawn in the wild, and Mime Jr. will spawn in Pokemon eggs.

Mr. Mime, Pansear, Durant, and Zangoose will remain in Europe, the same as Tauros, Panpour, Heatmor, and Seviper will remain in North America. Mime Jr. will be available in Europe in 5km eggs starting on September 26, 2019.

It's possible we'll see Mime Jr. available elsewhere in the future. We recently saw Niantic give the whole world a bit of a spin (earlier this month) with regional Pokemon spawns in regions outside their normal restricted area – with Shiny variants. For now, though, you'll have to head to Europe to catch that creepy Mime and its earlier form Mime Jr.!

Both Shiny Zangoose and Shiny Seviper will remain regional, as well – and they'll be available starting this week. UPDATE: Shiny Mime Jr. will also be available starting this week – still in eggs, still only in Europe, but Shiny too!

UPDATE: We've confirmed that all of the following Pokemon will be in region-specific Pokemon Eggs starting at 1PM PDT (GMT -7) starting today, September 26, 2019: Farfetch'd, Kangaskhan, Tauros, Heracross, Corsola, Volbeat, Illumise, Torkoal, Zangoose, Seviper, Lunatone, Solrock, Tropius, Relicanth, Pachirisu, Mime Jr., Chatot, Pansage, Pansear, Panpour, Heatmor, and Durant. This 5km egg update will remain in-effect until further notice!

Pokemon GO World Tourism Day with UNTWO

From September 26 (today) 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7) to Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at 1 p.m. PDT (GMT −7) Pokemon GO will celebrate World Tourism Day. This is in partnership with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), and will include bonuses! Decreased Stardust costs for trading (1/4 less), 2x XP for spinning Pokestops*, and "Specially themed Field Research tasks" are in effect.

*This is specific to Pokestops your avatar has never before visited! Hence the tourism bit.

Pokemon GO Shiny, rare, active, and easy today

Today we're taking a peek at the most recent round of Pokemon in Pokemon GO with SHINY iterations in the game. The difference between a very recently-released Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO and a Shiny Pokemon that's been released weeks or months ago is rarity. When a new Shiny Pokemon is released into the game, it's far more common than it'll be several weeks after its first appearance.

Today one of the least popular Pokemon in the entire Pokemon universe was given a Shiny showing in Pokemon GO. That's Yanma! Shiny Yanma was released on September 20, 2019, thanks to the most recent Safari Zone event in Pokemon GO. Because Shiny Yanma is in the game, so is Yanmega.

Shiny Yanma is far more common now, and will be more common for a short period after initial release. Niantic does not reveal the rate at which these Pokemon appear, so we've only got the studies we've done in the past with our friends across the planet in the last several years. What we've learned is basic.

SEE TOO: Reset Shiny Pokemon GO? Yes or no?

In Pokemon GO on a normal day, a Shiny Pokemon appears at a rate of 1 in 450 – per that specific Pokemon. If you've got a new Pokemon – newly Shiny that week (or within the next week or two) – you've got a closer to 1 in 45 chance. If that Pokemon was also just released as a Shiny Pokemon on its special Community Day, you've got a 1 in 24.5 chance DURING the event.

Another Pokemon that's likely still within the 1 in 45 chance rate is Klink! Klink (and evolutions) were released as Shiny Pokemon on the 16th of September, 2019. Shiny Mewtwo was released as a Week 3 Ultra Bonus on that same day – and is in the game still – but due to the strange way Mewtwo is handled in the game, there's a far smaller chance you'd ever find one in the wild (and an even smaller chance you'd find a Shiny Mewtwo).

Shiny Patrat was also released on the 16th of September along with Lillipup! Both of these Pokemon are still in the wild quite likely at their easier-to-find rate of 1 in 45. Klink, Patrat, Lillipup, and Yanma – those are the Pokemon you should ALWAYS tap this week!

You can also look for a Shiny Turtwig – though that was mostly slightly more common on its Community Day on September 14. Mr. Mime, Farfetched, Kangaskhan, and Tauros were released as Shiny Pokemon on the 9th of September. They're all back to their regional Pokemon standards by now, so they're probably back to standard Shiny rate too – 1 in 450!

Also released as Shiny Pokemon in the month of September: Electrike, Sentret, and Gligar! This has been one massively Shiny Pokemon-filled month of madness, just like we said back in August!

People Still Play That? ‘Pokémon GO’ Just Made $176 Million In August, #1 In The World

    Pokemon GO

    Niantic

I remain truly astonished with the momentum that Niantic has been able to sustain with Pokémon GO, taking it from a monster megahit in summer 2016 to...well, it’s still a monster megahit in 2019, it turns out.

When you bring up Pokémon GO these days, the common refrain you’ll hear back is “people still play that?” And the answer is yes, yes they do. And quite a lot of them, in fact.

Pokémon GO just had its highest grossing month since 2016, according to SuperData. GO brought in $176 million in August, more than three years after its initial release. The unseats the usual chart-leader, and more heavily monetized title, Honour of Kings for the first time in a good long while.

While Niantic’s WB collaboration, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite has kind of fizzled and sputtered, GO is stronger than ever thanks to continued investment from Niantic adding more and more features, in addition to more and more Pokémon, to keep players engaged.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where this renaissance of Pokémon GO began, but if I had to guess, it was probably around the time that friends and trading entered the game, as it instantly became a lot more social and more like the handhelds.

    Pokemon GO

    Niantic

As for how GO is making so much money? While Niantic doesn’t break down exactly what it’s selling, I am absolutely convinced that the majority of its revenue comes from raid passes, which allow for infinite raiding of special event legendaries and other rare Pokémon in raids. “Raid hours” now have people try to get as many big-time raids in as possible in a limited time, and that means buying however many raid passes it takes to get the job done. Hence, more revenue.

August is usually the biggest month of the year for GO, so I would expect this to dip a bit going forward. But we have just seen the launch of Gen 5 Pokémon, which begins a whole new era of the game, and Nintendo and The Pokémon Company would be crazy not to have some sort of elaborate GO/Sword and Shield crossover event for the launch of that game this fall.

Pokémon GO is not going anywhere, at least not with this level of investment Niantic is putting into it, and the investment on the players’ side as well, given how much time (and how many steps) they’ve put into building their Pokedex at this point. For many, GO is now more compelling than the handheld games ever were, or it’s their first Pokémon experience period, and they’re beyond hooked.

One Pokemon Is Taking Over a Japanese Prefecture After Being Named Governor

If you think Pokemon has reached peak popularity, you better think again. The franchise has had some huge highs this year as its first live-action film went public, and Ash Ketchum won his first Pokemon League Championship. Now, it seems like the series is taking over a town in Japan, and it is giving no apologies for such. Clearly, this is what happens when you let a Pokemon take over your town, and Slowpoke is more than worthy of the position.

For those who do not know, Slowpoke once moonlighted as a politician, believe it or not. The Pokemon became the governor of the Kagawa for a day last year on April Fool's, but he had an entire platform to work on. While the city has since reverted back to its human leaders, Slowpoke has been biding its time, and it seems the pocket monster is ready to get re-elected.

And how might the Pokemon go about doing that? Well, it seems Slowpoke is taking over Kagawa with a slew of custom manholes depicting some of the prefecture's biggest tourist sites.

As reported by Sora News 24, Slowpoke is set to begin its takeover this fall, and it will do so with its colorful manholes. The project will include 16 different covers, and they will be placed around the prefecture to highlight areas frequently visited by tourists. The manholes will each feature Slowpoke, but a variety of other Pokemon will feature in the manholes. For instance, Magikarp is found on one of the coves, so you know who that fish will be voting for at the polls!

With the manholes set to go live in September, you have some time to plan your trip to the prefecture, and you don't have to worry about being bored. Slowpoke picked a good city to govern once as the Kagawa area is known for its Udon noodles. In fact, Slowpoke was originally tasked to oversee the prefecture since its Japanese name sounds so similar to Udon. Now, it seems The Pokemon will not rest until it recovers its status as governor, and this public works project is the first step towards Slowpoke's re-election. Now, the only thing the monster needs to do is pitch its new political platform...

So, what do you think about this new project? Would you vote for the adorable Pokemon? Let me know in the comments or hit me up on Twitter @MeganPetersCB to talk all things comics and anime!

What's the top-grossing mobile game right now? Pokemon Go

(CNN) - If you thought Pokémon Go sunk into obscurity after taking over the world a few years ago, do we have news for you: It just climbed to No. 1 on the list of top-grossing mobile games.

According to SuperData, Pokémon Go made $176 million this August, its most successful month since the halcyon days of 2016.

Those who haven't checked their Pokédex recently may be surprised to learn that a LOT has been going on in the game over the past three years. Legendary Pokémon, new Pokémon, shiny Pokémon, raids, friends, trading abilities; you name it, and Pokémon Go developer Niantic has made it happen. Paid additions like raid passes, which allow players special access to capture Pokémon, have added to the game's bottom line.

You also know a game is popular when there's a whole economy built around cheating at it. Earlier this year, Niantic sued developers from a group called Global++ who were allegedly creating copies of Pokémon Go and other popular Niantic games to give players unauthorized advantages in the real versions of the games.

On a happier note, Pokémon Go recently celebrated its third anniversary with IRL events and special in-game releases.

Pokemon Go Giratina - Counters, Shiny Altered Forme Giratina, And How To Catch Tips

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

Altered Forme Giratina has returned once again in Pokemon Go. Following Mewtwo's departure from the game, the Legendary Renegade Pokemon is making an encore appearance around the world in five-star Raid Battles, giving you another opportunity to add one to your collection. That's not all; this time around, you'll also have a chance of encountering a Shiny Giratina for the first time.

As is generally the case with Legendaries, Giratina will only be around in Pokemon Go for a few weeks, so you'll need to make the most of your time if you're hoping to catch one. To help you out, we've rounded up everything you need to know to challenge Giratina below, from battle tips to how to catch a Shiny one and more.

What's The Difference Between Altered Forme And Origin Forme Giratina?

In the mainline Pokemon games, Giratina is able to assume two different forms. When players first encounter the Legendary in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, it is in its Altered Forme--the variant returning to Raid Battles right now. This form has six legends, black wings, and emphasizes defensive stats.

    No Caption Provided

Giratina's Origin Forme, meanwhile, is the appearance it takes when in the Distortion World--the parallel realm from which the Legendary monster hails in Pokemon lore. Origin Forme Giratina has a serpentine body and more offense-oriented stats. In the mainline series, players are able to manually change Giratina's form by equipping it with an item called the Griseous Orb; in Pokemon Go, however, Altered and Origin Forme Giratina are treated as two distinct Pokemon, so you'll need to catch them separately.

    How To Catch Giratina

As is the case with most other Legendary Pokemon, before you can catch Giratina, you'll first need to defeat it in a Raid Battle. If you're near a Gym where a Giratina Raid is taking place, you'll need to physically head to that location and team up with several other players to battle it--Legendary Pokemon have too high a CP for you to challenge them solo. You'll also need to have a Raid Pass to challenge Giratina, but you can receive one for free by spinning the Photo Disc at a Gym.

Once you've joined a Raid, you and your teammates will have a limited amount of time to defeat Giratina. It's the only Pokemon so far that's a Dragon- and Ghost-type, both of which are susceptible to their own types. Giratina is also weak to Ice, Dark, and Fairy Pokemon, so you should considering bringing along monsters like Mamoswine, Weavile, Tyranitar, Gardevoir, and Granbull to have the best chance.

If you can successfully beat Giratina, everyone who participated in the Raid will receive a handful of Premier Balls, along with several other prizes. You can only use the Premier Balls to capture the Legendary, so you'll need to make every throw count. Feeding it a Golden Razz Berry before each throw will make Giratina a little easier to catch. Study its movement pattern before throwing and with a little luck, Giratina will be yours.

    How To Find Shiny Giratina

Shiny Pokemon are rare in Pokemon Go, and unfortunately, there's no sure-fire way to ensure you encounter a Shiny Giratina. You won't be able to tell whether the Legendary is Shiny or not until you get to the catching phase, so your best chance to find one is to participate in as many Giratina Raids as you can. Fortunately, you'll be able to tell right away if you've encountered a Shiny one; it'll have silver horns, blue tips on its wings, and a peach-colored body.

How Long Will Giratina Be Available?

Altered Forme Giratina will appear in Raids for just under a month, from September 23 - October 17. You'll have until 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET / 9 PM BST on that day to encounter it. Your best chance of finding a Giratina Raid, however, will be on September 25, when Niantic holds a Legendary Raid Hour featuring the Renegade Pokemon from 6-7 PM local time. During that hour, there will be more Giratina Raids occurring at Gyms.

Pokemon GO Halloween leaks are here again!

It's that time of year again in Pokemon GO! It's time to look at what Niantic's got in the works for their most spooky holiday celebration in October. Much like previous years, this Halloween won't necessarily be called "Halloween" in the game – but it'll be no less dark because of it. This year we've got word that Halloween will release one of Pokemon GO's most disturbingly dark monsters of all.

Much like previous autumn harvest events, Niantic's discussed including 2x Pokemon Candy for each different Pokemon Candy-rewarding sort of action. That includes Pokemon capture, Pokemon Egg hatching, and transfers too. This event will also include halved requirements for Buddy Candy. What better holiday than this than to give Pokemon Candy a big sugary kick into overdrive?

Remember that time when, just before the release of Gen V, aka Gen 5, Unova Region, in Pokemon GO, when we'd interpreted Niantic's teasing about Yanmask to mean it'd be released with the first wave of Generation 5 Pokemon on the 16th of September? That was the wrong instinct!

Or at least it didn't turn out to be that which Niantic decided to go and do. Instead, this horrifying mask-toting Pokemon will be released into the wild – and quite likely in Shiny Pokemon form – near the end of October, 2019. According to sources familiar with the subject matter who wish to remain anonymous, Niantic's plans are to release at least Yanmask (and it's evolution Cofagrigus), if not a few other Dark/Ghost Pokemon just in time for Halloween.

    Planned releases for Halloween:• Yanmask• Cofagrigus• Purrloin• Liepard• Zorua• Zoroark

It'd be a real treat to see all three of these Pokemon lines released at once (and Shiny too!) but there's a distinct possibility Niantic will spread this release schedule out a bit. There are already a whole BUNCH of Ghost, Dark, and Halloween-friendly Pokemon released in the game in Generations 1-4. As such, we expect all manner of Ghost and/or Dark Pokemon to appear more frequently during the duration of the event.

Also, as it is with this sort of behind-the-scenes insight, there's always a chance that Niantic may completely scrap current plans and go with something completely different by the time Halloween rolls up. Keep your eyes on the prize and start collecting Pokeballs now, regardless. Halloween's been pretty much the best in-game event in Pokemon GO every year since the beginning!

This event will likely start either October 18 or October 25, 2019. The end date is most likely November 4, giving you either 1 or 2 weeks to capture all the ghosts you can. That includes either 2 or 3 weekends in which to make this holiday your most Pokemon-injected of all time!

Viral Twitter Post Perfectly Compares Famous Lady Gaga Looks to Pokemon

Lady Gaga has managed to conquer the entertainment mediums of music, movies, television, and fashion with unique appearances across the board. With the sheer amount of different outfits and looks that the star has put together in her life, one hilarious trend has seemingly been discovered: Lady Gaga has looked like a Pokemon a literal slew of times. One Twitter User managed to find a number of different Gaga fashion styles that uncannily line up with some of the biggest and most powerful pocket monsters from the biggest franchise in the world.

Twitter User FKajack shared this amazing thread that shows how Lady Gaga has seemingly worn dozens of outfits that mimic the look of several pocket monsters across numerous generations, with each fashion completely unique in its own right:

Lady Gaga is clearly no stranger to the world of television and movies, a medium that Pokemon is very familiar with. Appearing in the critically acclaimed "A Star Is Born" alongside Bradley Cooper, for which she won an Academy Award for her music and was nominated for her acting for "Best Actress", Gaga also appeared as one of the protagonists of FX's American Horror Story which just returned for its ninth season with American Horror Story: 1984.

Pokemon isn't the first anime that Lady Gaga has been associated with, as recently she wore an outfit that made her have a similar fashion sense to the protagonist of the legendary anime series, Inuyasha!

Which Pokemon do you think looks the most like Lady Gaga? What pocket monster would you like to see Gaga attempt to look like next? Feel free to let us know in the comments or hit me up directly on Twitter @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and Pokemon!

If you haven't kept up with the current run of the anime, the much anticipated Alola League arc is almost at an end! Pokemon the Series: Sun and Moon is described as such, "What starts as a summer vacation in the tropical Alola region turns into the next exciting chapter in Ash Ketchum's quest to become a Pokémon Master! There's plenty for Ash and Pikachu to explore in this sunny new region, with exciting new Pokémon to discover and interesting people to learn from along the way—including the cool Professor Kukui and the fun-loving Samson Oak.

More new faces will help guide Ash's Alolan adventure, in the form of a group of skilled Trainers—Kiawe, Lana, Mallow, and Sophocles—and a mysterious research assistant called Lillie. Frequent foes Team Rocket have also made the trip to Alola, looking to swipe some high-powered new Pokémon. But they have some heavy competition on the villainy front: the ruffians of Team Skull, who delight in causing chaos and may have more sinister intentions..."

Pokemon Go: Mewtwo Leaving Raid Battles Very Soon [Last Chance]

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

Pokemon Go's final wave of Ultra Bonuses is still live. Not only did it introduce the first Gen 5 Pokemon to the game (as well as a new evolutionary item called the Unova Stone), it also brought the Legendary Mewtwo back to Raids. However, your time to catch the Legendary Psychic-type is running out.

Mewtwo is scheduled to leave the game again at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on Monday, September 23, so you have until then to encounter it in five-star Raids. This time, the Legendary Pokemon knows the move Psystrike, a Psychic-type attack originally introduced in Pokemon Black and White. That's not all; you also have a chance of encountering a Shiny Mewtwo while it is still in Raids.

Shortly after it leaves Raid Battles, Mewtwo will appear again exclusively in EX Raids beginning September 25, and this time, it'll know the Ghost-type attack Shadow Ball. Unlike standard Raids, you need to receive an invitation to participate in these battles. However, you will have one final chance to catch a Mewtwo with Psystrike on October 8, when it returns to standard Raids for a Legendary Raid Hour. That event will take place from 6-7 PM local time.

As usual, before you can capture Mewtwo, you'll first need to defeat it in battle. As a pure Psychic-type, Mewtwo is vulnerable to Ghost, Dark, and Bug Pokemon such as Giratina, Tyranitar, and Scizor, so any of those will prove to be an asset when you challenge it.

In other Pokemon Go news, the game's Safari Zone event is now underway in Montreal. To celebrate the event, players around the world have a chance of encountering a Shiny Yanma in the wild. Niantic also recently shared the first details for October's Pokemon Go Community Day. The event takes place on October 12, and the featured Pokemon will be Trapinch, the first form of the Ground/Dragon Pokemon Flygon.

Pokemon Sword adds leek-wielding Sirfetch'd as version exclusive

We met a dangerous duck for the first time Wednesday as the Pokemon Company and Nintendo showcased new Pokemon Sirfetch'd, which you'll be able to add to your collection in Pokemon Sword and Shield, which hit Nintendo Switch on Nov. 15. This Fighting-type evolves from Farfetch'd after "experiencing many battles" and is a Sword version exclusive, so Shield players will have to trade for it.

Sirfetch'd, which the companies teased last week, has a calm demeanor and always battles fairly, befitting its knight-like demeanor. A famous painting of Sword and Shield's Galar region apparently shows it duelling with Escavalier, a knight Pokemon first seen in Pokemon Black and White.

Sirfetch'd is an evolution of Farfetch'd.

    The Pokemon Company

"In battle, Sirfetch'd uses the sharp stalk of its leek as a lance and the thick leaves as a shield," its Pokedex entry reads. "It maintains this leek over the span of many years and treasures it more than anything. When its leek finally withers, Sirfetch'd will leave the battlefield and retire from battling entirely."

It's the only Pokemon that can learn new move Meteor Assault, which sees Sirfetch'd point its leek at the opponent and charge at toward them. It's a powerful attack, but Sirfetch'd has to spend a turn recovering afterwards.

Farfetch'd debuted in Pokemon Red and Blue more than 20 years ago, but this is the first time it's been able to evolve. Version exclusive Pokemon are a series tradition, with the idea being that you trade with players who have other version to complete your Pokedex.

‘Pokémon Sword And Shield’ Introduces Sirfetch’d, A New Evolution To Farfetch’d

The Pokémon Company has finally revealed that the glitchy Pokémon it announced is actually an evolution to an old Pokémon that's been there since the first generation.

The official "Pokémon Sword and Shield" website previously teased that a new Pokémon has been found and will be featured in the game. The teaser simply showed a glitchy Pokémon reminiscent of a first-gen glitch known as "Missingno." It also revealed that the new Pokémon will be a fighting type, weigh a heavy 257.9 lbs, and have an ability called "Steadfast."

Fans of the game wondered if this could be a Galarian form of Cubone. Others though that it could be Missingno becoming an official part of Pokémon canon. Others also speculated, with much gusto, that this could be an evolution to longtime Pokémon Farfetch'd.

The Pokémon Company has finally decided to clear the obvious confusion and announced that the new Pokémon is indeed "Sirfetch'd," a much-deserved evolution to the old duck Pokémon Farfetch'd.

    It's a Farfetch'd evolution indeed

Farfetch'd has been with the series for as long as fans can remember. This duck Pokémon, which is always seen carrying a leek with it, didn't have an evolution until now. The official "Pokémon Sword and Shield" website said "Farfetch'd of the Galar region can evolve into Sirfetch'd after experiencing many battles." Obviously, Farfetch'd waited a long time for an evolution, and won't make it easy on players.

Sirfetch'd looks like a noble knight sans the heavy steel armor. It uses its familiar leek as a lance, and uses the leaves at the top of its leek as a shield. It has a very stern, no-nonsense appearance that seems to exude confidence befitting a knight.

The game's official website describes Sirfetch'd as being "calm and collected, and they make a point of always battling fairly. They are so noble in battle that they are often chosen as a motif for paintings."

The noble Pokémon has a signature move that only it can learn. This move, "Meteor Assault," has Sirfetch'd pointing its leek at its enemy, and then has it charging forward at great speed. The move is very powerful, but will cause Sirfetch'd to be unable to move immediately after it is used.

Sirfetch'd is exclusive to "Pokémon Sword," and is the latest Pokémon to be revealed for the game.

One of the original Pokémon just got a new evolution, and fans are going wild over it

After more than 20 years, one of the original 150 Pokémon is getting an evolution.

The Pokémon Company revealed on Wednesday that Farfetch'd caught in the Galar region of "Pokémon Sword and Shield" will be able to evolve into a brand-new Pokémon named Sirfetch'd.

Armed with a sharpened leek as a sword and using the leek's leaves as a shield, Sirfetch'd appears to fit perfectly within the themes of "Pokémon Sword and Shield."

Read more: Every new Pokémon coming to 'Pokémon Sword and Shield' this November that we know about, from Alcremie to Yamper

Farfetch'd, the Wild Duck Pokémon, was easily recognized thanks to its strong eyebrows and the leek that it carried at all times. The original Pokémon game, "Pokémon Red," said that Farfetch'd was nearly extinct because too many people were eating it.

Sirfetch'd is described as "a noble knight that fights fair and square." The Pokémon stands just two feet and seven inches tall, and its sword looks to have twice the height. Sirfetch'd is a plain fighting Pokémon, instead of a Normal/Flying type like Farfetch'd.

The new Pokémon will have a new move called Meteor Assault that can only be learned by Sirfetch'd. It's said that once its leek withers, Sirfetch'd will retire from battling, but it's unclear if this will impact the game at all.

So far, fans have already embraced the new Pokémon and started posting fan art and memes on social media as soon as rumors of Sirfetch'd appeared online.

Here's what some members the Pokémon community are saying so far:

"Sword and Shield" are the latest generation of Pokémon games arriving on the Nintendo Switch on November 15.

The newest Pokémon in Sword is the sophisticated and unibrowed Sirfetch’d

One of the most peculiar Pokémon ever created is Farfetch'd, a bird monster that is pretty clearly just a regular bird holding a leek. If you thought this was the bizarre creature's final form, you can think again, because a new evolution called Sirfetch'd will appear in Pokémon Sword.

Available only in Sword — you Pokémon Shield players will not get to experience its majesty — Sirfetch'd is an evolution of Farfetch'd found in the Galar region. It's a fighting Pokémon that ways more than 250 pounds, so you won't want to mess with it unless you have some serious power on your side.

It also abides by a strict code of ethics, and will fight fairly each and every time. It retains its leek from its previous form, and can use it as both a sword and a shield for offense and defense. The Pokémon Company noted in its profile that once this leek is destroyed, Sirfetch'd will be forced to retire.

To deal extreme damage, you can use the special attack Meteor Assault, which sees Sirfetch'd charge at his opponents using the leek as a javelin. Once you use this attack, you will not immediately be able to attack again, so you have to make it count.

pokemon sword farfetchd evolution sirfetchd nintendo switch sirfetch

Sirfetch'd is certainly a dapper individual, with clean white feathers, but it also sports a unibrow like the original Farfetch'd. This could mean it has endured teasing at the hands of other monsters, which has likely strengthened its resolve.

Pokémon Sword and Shield will feature several other new monsters, as well. These include the three starters — Sobble, Grookey, and Scorbunny. As is tradition with the series, they are water, grass, and fire types, respectively, and should serve as the perfect foundation for the rest of your roster. With the removal of random battles in the Galar region, you should be able to get the Pokémon you need much more easily now. You can then use them to take on the game's many gym leaders.

Pokémon Sword and Shield launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch on November 15. A special version of the Nintendo Switch Lite will be available to purchase on that date, as well.

Pokemon Go Community Day For October Announced, Features Trapinch

GameSpot may get a commission from retail offers.

Pokemon Go's September Community Day may have only recently ended, but developer Niantic has already announced the first details for next month's event. October's Community Day is set for Saturday, October 12, and this time, players will have more chances to catch another Pokemon originally from Ruby and Sapphire: Trapinch.

Throughout the event, Trapinch will appear in the wild much more often than normal, and you'll also have a chance of encountering a Shiny Trapinch in Go for the first time. On top of that, the Ant Pit Pokemon will be able to learn a special event-exclusive move if you evolve it all the way into its final form, Flygon, by the end of the Community Day, although Niantic hasn't revealed what that attack will be yet.

In addition to increased Trapinch spawns, Niantic will offer a couple of other bonuses during October's Community Day. This time, you'll earn three times the usual amount of XP when you capture a Pokemon during the event. As usual, any Lure Modules you use during the Community Day will also last for three hours rather than 30 minutes.

Much like September's Community Day, October's event will take place earlier than usual, from 11 AM to 2 PM local time. You can find more details about the event on the official Pokemon Go website.

In the meantime, the first Gen 5 Pokemon have made their debut in Pokemon Go. The new monsters arrived as part of the mobile game's final set of Ultra Bonuses, which also includes the return of Mewtwo to five-star Raids. Alongside the new Pokemon, Niantic has added a new evolutionary item called the Unova Stone, which is used to evolve certain Gen 5 monsters. You can read how to get the Unova Stone in our guide. After more than 1,000 episodes and 22 films, Ash Ketchum is finally a Pokémon Master

Ash Ketchum, the hero of the "Pokémon" animated series, has finally become a Pokémon Master after more than 20 years of adventures.

Joined by his iconic partner Pikachu, Ash left home in the first episode of "Pokémon" with the dream of becoming a master Pokémon trainer. The series debuted in Japan in 1997 and arrived in the United States a year later. For more than 1,000 episodes and 22 feature films, the "Pokémon" animated series has followed Ash's travels around the fictional world as he encounters hundreds of Pokémon and battles his fellow trainers.

To become a Pokémon Master, trainers must win a tournament against the toughest competition in their region, called the Pokémon League. After coming up short in six Pokémon League tournaments, Ash captured his first championship in the Alola region against a rival trainer named Gladion.

Surprisingly, it wasn't Ash's Pikachu who won the final battle. He used Lycanroc, a wolf Pokémon, to defeat Gladion's Lycanroc in a fight that came down to the last hit. The episode aired in Japan on Sunday but hasn't officially been translated to English.

"Pokémon" has only continued to grow in popularity in the past two decades, and Ash's journey has touched millions of people around the world. While his failure to win the Pokémon League had become a running joke among fans through the years, Ash's victory sparked celebration around social media.

The "Pokémon" director and composer Junichi Masuda retweeted messages of support from countries including Japan, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Australia. Fans said Ash's persistence through the years should serve as a reminder that success could be a long journey.

Despite being on the air for more than two decades, Ash hasn't really aged since the start of the series â€" he's been 10 years old since 1997.

It's unclear whether the next season of the "Pokémon" anime will replace Ash with a different protagonist, but the Pokémon champion will still have plenty to do on his own adventures â€" after all, he's still gotta catch 'em all.

‘Pokemon Go’ will add Gen 5 Pokemon from the Unova region later today

Nearly a year after bringing Generation 4 Pokemon from the Sinnoh region to Pokemon Go, Niantic is expanding the game's PokeDex once again this week with the addition of creatures from Unova. These were the Pokemon featured in Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version for the Nintendo DS in 2010.

As with the other generations, Niantic will add a few Gen 5 Pokemon to the game at a time, starting with Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, Pidove, Blitzle, and more on Monday. There will also be Shiny versions of Patrat and Lillipup, so keep an eye out for the first Shiny Gen 5 Pokemon later today as well.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg for today's update. In a blog post about the Unova Pokemon, Niantic also revealed that Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, and Pidove will start to appear in 2km eggs; Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Blitzle, Drilbur, and Foongus hatch from 5km eggs; and Ferroseed, Klink, Litwick, Golett, and Deino will all show up in 10km eggs. Plus, Lillipup, Patrat, and Klink can each be encountered in Raids, which is the only place to find Klink.

There are also five new region-specific Pokemon coming to Pokemon Go from the Unova region:

  • Asia-Pacific: Pansage, the Grass Monkey Pokémon
  • Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: Pansear, the High Temp Pokémon
  • The Americas and Greenland: Panpour, the Spray Pokémon
  • Western hemisphere: Heatmor, the Anteater Pokémon
  • Eastern hemisphere: Durant, the Iron Ant Pokémon
  • Finally, Pokemon Go is also getting a new Evolutionary item called a Unova Stone, which allows some new Pokemon, such as Lampent, to evolve. Niantic says that the new Pokemon will begin showing up in-game at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET today, and that more Generation 5 Pokemon will be added in the coming weeks.

Pokémon’s New York-inspired monsters join 'Pokémon Go' today

Starting today, September 16th, Pokémon Go players can begin collecting Pokémon from the series' fifth generation of games. As with any of the other Pokémon you could collect previously, you'll be able to catch Gen 5 monsters by finding them out on your daily commute, taking part in the game's co-operative 'Raid' mode and by hatching eggs. Some of the more notable additions included in today's update are Gen 5's three starters, Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott. For the full list of new Pokémon, as well as information on how to obtain them, visit developer Niantic's website.

If you grew up playing Pokémon in the US, Gen 5 is a special one. Pokémon Black and White were the first Pokémon titles to take their inspiration not from Japan but from the United States. The game's Unova region is based on New York State, with Cestelia City its stand-in for Lower Manhattan. Moreover, a lot of the Pokémon that were native to the region took their inspiration from different aspects of the city. Take Watchog, one of the Pokémon joining Go today, for instance. It wears what is essentially an MTA maintenance worker vest. Another, Lillipup, is based on accessory-sized Yorkies. Speaking of the MTA, in Black and White, you could also do battle on the subway system, and it was one of the most fun aspects of the game. With almost a decade since the originals came out, now is a great time to revisit that era with Pokémon Go.

Pokémon Go adds critters from Black and White’s Gen 5 roster

Pokémon from the franchise's fifth generation will start showing up in Niantic's hit mobile game Pokémon Go today.

Gen 5 encompasses Pokémon Black and White and the direct sequels Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2. Yes, it can all be a bit confusing if you're not familiar with the franchise, but all of the mainline Pokémon games belong to a "generation." The first one encompasses Red, Blue, and Yellow, for example. Games in the same generation typically feature the same setting and a similar roster of Pokémon.

Pokémon Go has been a big hit since in 2016 debut, having earned over 1 billion downloads. Adding more Pokémon is a way to keep all of the free-to-play game's players interested.

The first wave of Gen 5 pocket monsters will include Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, Patrat, Lillipup, Purrloin, Pidove, and Blitzle. If your favorite isn't in that list, don't despair. Niantic has noted that other Gen 5 Pokémon will be showing up. Some of them will be locked to specific locations, like Pansage in Asia-Pacific and Panpour in the Americas and Greenland.

Pokémon GO Turtwig Community Day: How To Get Yourself A Shiny, Powerful Torterra

    Pokemon GO

    Niantic

It’s time again for another Pokémon GO Community Day, this time focused on Gen 4 starter Turtwig, a grass-type turtle that evolves into Grotle then Torterra in its final form. I believe this is the first Gen 4 Community Day, which is appropriate considering that Gen 5 is about to technically launch this week.

Players will have three hours to start catching as many Turtwigs as possible, beginning at 11 AM ET today, a somewhat rare Sunday Community Day, as usually these are on Saturdays. Obviously one of the draws of the event is to get a Torterra that evolves with the unique move Frenzy Plant, which can only happen today, but moreover, people are probably going to be shiny hunting.

Shiny Turtwig, Grotle and Torterra are not exactly crazily different from their normal versions. They have a little less green and a little more yellow in them. Different enough to be noticeable, but not a total color flip like we often see with shinies.

As ever, Shiny rates hovering around 5%, meaning that 1 in 20 Turtwig encounters should be shiny. I’ve seen some claim it’s as high as 8%, which would be more like 1 in 15. But on days like today, catching boatloads of Turtwig should not be a problem.

    Torterra family

    @frankarr

Remember to also have incense active, as on days like today, that will also spawn bonus Community Day Pokémon. The same goes for lures, which should be active wherever you can put them, as one lure always lasts for three hours during Community Day, getting you 6x the bang for your buck.

The unique bonus today is 3x catch Stardust, which I honestly think is one of the best bonuses considering how much it synergizes with the act of…catching as many Pokémon as humanly possible in a short window. So build up your reserves.

The goal is to catch as many shinies as you can muster during this three hour window, then picking your highest IV one to evolve into a shiny Torterra with Frenzy Plant, a true, one-of-a-kind rarity that cannot be repeated after today.

I’m not sure if Torterra, even with Frenzy Plant, is going to be elevated into the top tier of grass-types, as I think there are just too many better options with better stats, but I don’t know, maybe I’m not giving it enough credit, and I still want one regardless.

Good luck shiny hunting today, and I will see you out there for three hours.

Pokemon GO: A Warning About Today’s Turtwig Community Day Start Time

Community Day is here again, blessing us with a favorable shiny rate, hordes of Turtwig and for some people their first shot at a Torterra, Turtwig’s third tier evolution. There has been something wonderful about the familiarity of these events since their introduction in late 2017, but Niantic does like to keep us on our toes, at least to a certain degree. So here’s the warning: it starts a lot earlier than previous times.

For anyone scanning this, Turtwig Community Day goes from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM, local time.

The past few Community Days have been from 4:00-700 PM local time, which switched over as Summer began, presumably to spare those in the northern hemisphere some brutal temperatures resulting both from standard weather patterns and the continuing effects of man-made climate change. This will not be the case with this one, as we’re rolling back to fall time.

So don’t assume you know what time the September Community Day is: it goes from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM local time, which is significantly earlier than recent Community Days. So plan accordingly: you don’t want to show up at 4:00 only to see that there are no Turtwig to be found.

If you’ve never done a Community Day before, I’d highly recommend it: find the nearest population center you can and see who is out playing Pokemon, or if you’re feeling more ambitious see if any communities in your area have something planned. Community Day is a way to see the trainers around you out in force, everyone heading out and cheering each other on as they hunt for shinies. And it’s going to be an excellent time to do some raids, because the increased trainer presence means that it’s a whole lot easier to find someone to help.

So remember: this thing starts a full 5 hours earlier than the last Community Day, and that’s likely to be the case going forward. You can’t really have a Community Day going at 7:00 PM in December, at least not in the Northern Hemisphere. This is sort of a new regime for Community Days writ large, as well: they used to take place at three different times based on your region, but now they just take place at the same clock hour based on local time, which is something that Niantic is doing a lot more of these days.

The secret Pokemon basically has its personal webpage. many of the info on it including its identify is redacted, but it surely does inform us that the Pokemon is combating-classification, weighs 257.9 lbs. and has the capability Steadfast which increases the velocity stat of a Pokemon with the aid of one stage if it flinches after being hit with a certain move in keeping with Bulbapedia. It also incorporates here quote:

most effective [Redacted] which have survived many battles can acquire this [missing]. When this Pokemon's [Redacted] [Redacted]ers, it's going to retire from combat.

The quote appears to indicate that the secret Pokemon is either an developed Pokemon or a Pokemon with a distinct form.

My preliminary guess become that it turned into an alternate variety of Cubone, given the form of its head. despite the fact, a few clients on Twitter counseled that it turned into an alternate form of Farfetch'd. It's weapon does seem identical in color to the leek that Farfetch'd incorporates. additionally, some clients accept as true with that the glitched image on the website is truly the Pokemon on its facet.

a further consumer has tried filling in the blanks on the quote on the site:

Filling in the blanksOnly *Farfetch'd* that have survived many battles can gain this *Evolution*. When this Pokémon's *leak shatt*ers, it's going to retire from combat

    — Alex✏️ (@EdkrazeOfficial) September 13, 2019

So the existing bet looks to be the Galar variety of Farfetch'd. it could actually actually have a gimmick the place it retreats from battle when it takes adequate harm, akin to Wimpod and Golisopod. The simplest thing that doesn't take a look at is its weight; Farfetch'd has a weight of 33.1 lbs. according to Bulbapedia, which is much lighter than the mystery Pokemon's 257.9 lbs.
