Research Rewards and Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO for this World Tourism Day event are on point. Today we're rolling in lucky – aiming for some of the strangest-looking alternate versions of Zangoose and Seviper – along with the very first appearance of the most un-evolved version of Mr. Mime in the Pokemon called Mime Jr! Three Tasks are at hand, and a set of tasty rewards are waiting for your approval.
Task 1: is called "World Tourism Day: Trade Pokémon caught 10,000 KM apart." How far is 10000km? That's approximately 6213 miles. These units of measurement are only helpful if you've got something with which you're able to compare. Lucky you, we've done just a little bit of work here to give you some idea of how far you'll need to travel – or get a start on sparking your imagination for how you'll go about making this trade happen.
The distance from Chicago to the UK – over the North Atlantic Ocean – is 6,242km. That's according to current Google Maps data. If you're traveling on the highway from Maine (USA) to Los Angeles, you'll have a distance of 5,016km. You might, at this point, be getting the picture.
You're basically going to need to trade Pokemon with someone who lives halfway around world. Given the amount of time you've got to complete this task, chances are MOST people won't actually be able to complete it. Unless they live near an airport, and they're very good at making new friends, most Pokemon GO trainers won't likely see the reward for this task: A Zangoose encounter (North America, South America, and Africa) OR a Seviper encounter (Europe, Asia, and Australia).
Task 2: is called "World Tourism Day: Make a new friend!" For this you'll need only to head into your Friends Code page in the Pokemon GO app. This is probably the simplest task, since making a new friend can be as simple as entering a code one found online. The reward you'll get for this task is a Nosepass encounter.
The above code is an example – adding it in the game won't do you a whole lot of good, since it's from an account of a player that literally hasn't played for months and doesn't plan on playing for the foreseeable future. So don't expect any gifts! Username is hashtag-appropriate, if you know what I mean.
Task 3: is called "World Tourism Day: Send 25 gifts to friends!" This is also relatively simple, as you'll have a bunch of gifts you've gotten from spinning Pokestops already – now all you gotta do is hand em out to friends. The reward for this task is a Lapras encounter.
ALSO NOTE: During this task period – until October 4, 2019 – trade costs were cut down to 25% their normal size, to enable far more trades than you'd normally be able to afford! At the same time, PokeStops are rewarding users with twice the XP they'd normally blast – so spin em a whole bunch!
