'A Colossal Discovery' Likely Bringing Regigigas to 'Pokémon GO'

You've met Regice, Registeel and Regirock, now get ready for...Regigias, arriving soon to Pokémon GO. Gigas is greek word for giant that shows up in all sorts of games, so Regigas roughly translates to "King Giant", a weird-looking colossus studded with jewels and seemingly ruling over the rest of the Legendary Titans. It's been one of the missing Gen-4 legendaries, with plenty of people speculating that it was going to replace Deoxys to EX Raids. But with shadow ball Mewtwo currently back in EX Raids and a new item found in the files by dataminer Chrales, it seems like it's going to be part of a different kind of event in this game.

Chrales recently found a ticket in the game for an event labeled "a collossal discovery" which, given the rest of the information that we have, seems to point pretty squarely to Regigags:

It's an interesting idea, and I've got a lot of questions about it. Tickets in this game have previously been used to access special events like Pokémon GO Fest or Safari Zones. This one seems to be different, however: it's a global event like Community Day or Raid Day, but it still uses this ticket. Pokémon GO Fest for the past two years has included a special research task designed to be completed within the span of an hour or two that rewards you with a mythical Pokémon, and my guess is that this is going to be something similar: a day-long questline that people can complete to get Regigigas.

The major question here is how we're going to get this ticket. Previous tickets have, naturally, been purchases that you make on a website outside of the app, like you would guess for a real-world event. I doubt we'll see that here because there's no need to restrict access to a worldwide event. If it costs Pokécoins(read: real money), however, I could see it being a big problem for the community. No Pokémon has been restricted by purchase in the past, and even item-dependent creatures like Leafeon, Glaceon, Probopass and Magnezone have ways for free-to-play players to collect them. Restricting access to a major legendary like Regigigas would be a bad move, in my opinion.

I'd be surprised to see that. It's possible that you have to earn the ticket through field research, or even that we all get one through some unforseen mechanic. Regardless, the event seems to be on November 2, so we'll likely hear more about this in the coming weeks.
