'Pokémon Go' Community Day: Start Time, Shiny Trapinch and Everything You Need to Know

The next Pokémon Go Community Day is almost here and this week, a fan-favorite Pokémon gets the spotlight.

Trapinch, the Ground-type Pokémon from the Hoenn region, will appear more often during the upcoming event, giving trainers the best chance at catching and gathering enough candy to evolve it into Flygon.

As with other Community Day events, there are many more in-game bonuses and exclusives to obtain. So if you want to take advantage of all that the Trapinch Community Day has to offer, here's everything you need to know, including the event's start time and more.

POKEMON GO TRAPINCH COMMUNITY DAY START TIME

The Pokémon Go Trapinch Community Day event starts Saturday, October 12 from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. local time.

SHINY TRAPINCH

The focal Pokémon of each Community Day event in Pokémon Go see their Shiny variants make their debut in the popular mobile game. For the Trapinch Community Day this is no different, as the Ground-type Pokémon will finally get its own rare variant.

Pokémon Go trainers who love to shiny hunt will have a chance to add three more Shiny Pokémon to their collections as Shiny Trapinch and its evolutions, Vibrava and Flygon, will now be in the game. During the three-hour event, the odds of finding a Shiny Trapinch are increased, but don't worry if you don't encounter one because it will forever be in Pokémon Go at lower encounter odds.

Trainers will need to interact with Trapinch in the overworld to see if they found a Shiny, and it's not hard to distinguish between the normal and rarer variant. Shiny Trapinch is an olive green color, a stark change from its traditional orange coloring.

EARTH POWER

The exclusive attack learned during the Trapinch Community Day event is Earth Power, a powerful Ground-type move.

Only Trapinch that evolve all the way to Flygon will learn Earth Power. Trainers will also need to evolve the monster during the event hours. Niantic gives trainers an extra hour to evolve their Trapinch, so they'll have from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time to decide which Pokémon to evolve.

It should be noted that Trapinch caught before the event can learn Earth Power as long as it evolves during the four-hour window.

IN-GAME BONUSES

Aside from the usual three-hour Lures - up from one hour - Pokémon Go players will receive three times the experience for catching Pokémon during the three-hour event. With so many Trapinch spawning on Saturday, trainers will not have a problem gaining experience and leveling up.
