'Pokémon Go' Raid Update: Shiny Darkrai & Every New Change

Darkrai, the Gen 4 Legendary Pokémon, has returned to Pokémon Go to give trainers another chance to catch it.

Starting Friday, March 6 at 8 a.m. to Monday, March 9 at 10 p.m. local time, Darkrai will appear in Level 5 Raids. Darkrai is not just returning to the popular mobile game, though, because its Shiny form is making its debut in Pokémon Go.

With Darkrai's return, the rest of the Raid bosses have shifted as well.

If you want to know everything about Darkrai's return and how to counter it, read on for details.

SHINY DARKRAI AND COUNTERS

Darkrai is a pure Dark-type Pokémon, which makes it weak to Fairy, Fighting and Bug-type attacks. It's also resistant to Psychic, Ghost and Dark-type attacks so don't bring Pokémon using those moves.

Luckily for trainers, Pokémon Go has a wide variety of Pokémon that utilize Fighting-type attacks very well. Here's a list of Pokémon that trainers should consider bringing into Raids against Darkrai:

  • Machamp with two fighting attacks
  • Breloom with two fighting attacks
  • Hariyama with two fighting attacks
  • Heracross with two fighting attacks
  • Togekiss with two fairy attacks
  • Toxicroak with two fighting attacks
  • Darkrai's return to Pokémon Go marks the debut of its Shiny variant. Shiny Darkrai transforms from its usual black coloring to a more dark purple hue. You won't know if you've encountered a Shiny Darkrai until the catching phase displays its visuals.

    POKEMON GO RAID UPDATE

In the past when a Legendary Pokémon entered Raids, other battles included Pokémon that would help trainers build a team to take down Darkrai. This time, the Raids are filled with Poison and Dark-type Pokémon, coinciding with the Team Go Rocket Takeover motiff for this weekend.

So, Darkrai will be found in Level 5 Raids, while some of the usual suspects like Mawile and some Alolan forms will appear in the middle-tier Raids.

Amogst a wide roster of monsters, Timburr, Sneasel and Tyranitar are all great battlers in Pokémon Go, so we recommend trying to get good ones.
