'Pokémon Go' Sinnoh Event: Start Time, Shiny Riolu & Everything You Need to Know

Pokémon Go is ready to celebrate the Sinnoh region in a brand-new event that will see Pokémon from Gen 4 appearing more frequently in the wild.

Trainers will also get a chance to catch two new Shiny Pokémon making their Pokémon Go debuts as well as plenty of other goodies, including new field research, egg pool changes and much more.

If you're looking to take full advantage of Pokémon Go's Sinnoh Celebration event, here's everything you need to know including its start time.

POKEMON GO SINNOH CELEBRATION START TIME

The Pokémon Go Sinnoh region celebration event begins Friday, February 7 at 8 a.m. to Monday, February 10 at 10 p.m. local time.

SHINY RIOLU AND HIPPOPOTAS

Two new Shiny Pokémon are making their Pokémon Go debuts, and one is one of the most rare 'Mon in the region.

Shiny Riolu and Shiny Hippopotas will begin appearing in Pokémon Go when the Sinnoh celebration event starts. While it's not clear if Riolu and Hippopotas will appear more frequently in the wild - the latter is more likely - both will appear more frequently in 7km Eggs when the pool changes with the event.

Both Pokémon may also be rewards for specific research tasks, but we'll update when we learn more.

Shiny Riolu changes its coloring from blue to gold, while Shiny Hippopotas' coloring becomes more saturated.

NEW FIELD RESEARCH

There will be new research tasks that go live when the Sinnoh event begins. Niantic confirmed on the official Pokémon Go blog that Sinnoh Stones will be the reward for at least one task.

Here's a running list of confirmed research tasks for the Sinnoh event:

Catch five Kricketot - Combee

Win a Raid - Hippopotas

Evolve a Pokémon using a Sinnoh Stone - Cranidos

Hatch five Eggs - Sinnoh Stone

Catch five Turtwig, Chimnchar or Piplup - Stardust (x1000)

EGG POOL CHANGES/SINNOH STONES

All 7km Eggs during the Sinnoh celebration event will hatch only Gen 4 Pokémon. The official Pokémon Go blog confirmed the following Pokémon will hatch more frequently in the latest change to the Egg Pool:

Budew

Combee

Bronzor

Gible

Riolu

Hippopotas

Mantyke

Buizel

Cherubi

Bonsly

Shinx

Perhaps now trainers can find Gible more frequently than they currently can.

Sinnoh Stones can be collected easier through research tasks during the event. Trainers may want to stock up on them to evolve the following Pokémon:

Magmar -> Magmortar

Rhydon -> Rhyperior

Lickitung -> Lickilicky

Tangela -> Tangrowth

Murkrow -> Honchkrow

Sneasel -> Weavile

Yanma -> Yanmega
