Pokémon Home Gifts List: How to Get Hidden Ability Kanto Starters, Rotom & More

The Pokémon Home app allows trainers to store and transfer over their Pokémon from older games into the lastest games on the Nintendo Switch.

However, there's a lot more to Pokémon Home than its 3DS counterpart, Pokémon Bank. There are challenges, and even gift Pokémon that trainers can earn by performing specific tasks.

Some of these gift Pokémon can only be obtained in the mobile version of Pokémon Home, while others can come from either the mobile or Switch version of the app. To claim these Pokémon, press the bottom button to pull up the menu and then select "Mystery Gift." Tap on "Gift box" to claim the Pokémon.

Here's all the gift Pokémon that trainers can grab from Pokémon Home:

Note:This list will be updated with any new gift Pokémon that is distributed in the future.

CHARMANDER/BULBASAUR/SQUIRTLE

These three Kanto region Starter Pokémon can only be gifted through the mobile version of Pokémon Home.

This is the easiest gift Pokémon you can receive from the new app. All you have to do is open the app and Grand Oak - the new Professor of Pokémon Home - will give you a choice of either Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle.

What's special about these three Pokémon is that they come with their Hidden Abilities. Charmander and its Hidden Ability are already available in Sword and Shield, so, if you want something new, we recommend going with Bulbasaur or Squirtle.

Bulbasaur's Hidden Ability is Chlorophyll, which increases the Pokémon's speed when there's intense sunlight. Squirtle's Hidden Ability is Rain Dish, which recovers a little of the Pokémon's health at the end of each turn if it's raining.

EEVEE

Eevee can also only be obtained from the mobile version of Pokémon Home. To obtain this Normal-type Pokémon, trainers must have a single monster taken from the Wonder Box.

This gift is only active one month from when you activate the app on your mobile device so don't take too long to claim it.

Gift Eevee starts at Level 5 with the Adaptability ability and these attacks: Helping Hand, Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip.

ROTOM

Rotom is one of the most popular Pokémon in competitive battling, and Pokémon Home gives trainers a chance to catch one of their own.

To obtain the Ghost and Electric-type Pokémon, trainers must have a deposited GTS Pokémon get taken. This can only be done on the mobile version of Pokémon Home. Like Eevee, this gift is only active for one month after activation.

Rotom comes to trainers at Level 5 with the following attacks: Thunder Shock, Astonish and Double Team.

PICHU

Pichu, the baby version of Pikachu is available as a gift when players using the mobile version of Pokémon Home complete a challenge, obtain a sticker and put it in their profile. Like the last two gift Pokémon, trainers have just one month after activation to obtain this Pokémon.

To change your profile, go to the "Your Room" tab and tap on your account name. Then, tap on the blank background to place wallpaper and stickers on it. Save the changes, and you'll receive a Pichu in your gift box.

PIKACHU

Similar to the Kanto Starter Pokémon, Pikachu can be obtained in either version of Pokémon Home. Just install the app on either platform, and the electric rat is yours.

Pokémon Home is available to download for free on Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android devices.
