Pokemon GO
Credit: NianticItâs a busy February here in Pokémon GO, with a Sinnoh Event, some Valentineâs Day action, the introduction of the Battle League, and these new mystery bonus hours that developer Niantic Labs is trying out. The idea is straightforward: weâre getting some more of those evening events that run from 6:00-7:00 PM local time, but theyâre not all raids. The first one we had was a Pokémon spotlight which flooded the streets with Onix. And now weâre getting a âmystery bonus hourâ, but of course we already know what it is.
The mystery bonus hour will run tonight, February 6, from 6:00-7:00 PM local time. And because thatâs already happened way on the other side of the world, we can tell you that the bonus will be double catch and raid stardust. So get those star pieces ready to take advantage.
A stardust bonus dovetails nicely with the debut of Pokémon Battle League, of course. Right now we donât need all that much currency to get up to fighting strength for the low CP great league, even if leveling up Azumarill can get pretty expensive. But weâll definitely want to save some more for the Ultra and Master Leagues, the latter of which will take huge amounts of Stardust to be competitive in due to the lack of a CP cap. Iâm not sure how much youâll be able to grind in an hour, but every bit helps.
When Niantic first started these hour-long events, they took place during the day for a âlegendary lunch hourâ. That worked out perfectly for my life, but Iâm a bit dissapointed at the intense focus on evening events now: 6:00-7:00 PM is not a very convenient time for a toddler. I get that the evening is better for most people, but I feel like we should be able to get a little more rotation in the mix. Not a lunch hour every time, but some events during the day would doubtless bring in some more people that struggle with the later times.
It definitely seems like weâll be getting more of these events, however, so maybe Niantic can switch it up.
